Translators can vary in print quality and can change in support without HP's knowledge.  If you use a software translator, the company that made the translator is responsible to provide support for the software translator.  When shopping for a translator, make sure to compare out-put and quality.  Translators can vary from near PostScript quality graphics and text to 72-dpi graphics and text depending on the implementation of QuickDraw to PCL routines.  Some translators come with a cable to hook up the Macintosh to the HP LaserJet printer.
